Our trip to Atlanta...

We took a 5 day trip to Atlanta for Trav's company Christmas party - the party was so fun but even better was seeing Trav's brothers. Christopher, Eliza and Reese(so dang cute) moved out there this past Summer and his other brother(Ben) and his darling family drove up from Tallahassee, Fl so we were able to have a little get together. Trav has such a fun family - feel lucky to be related to everyone single one of them - loved hearing the good'ole Dougherty stories of days gone by...my face hurt from laughing so hard. Enjoyed seeing Christopher, Eliza, Reese, Ben, Ursula, Bella, and Landon....you guys have such beautiful families and are doing such a great job in teaching and raising them...fun to watch!!
Can't wait until our next reunion. Thanks for driving up from Florida so we could see you Ben and Ursula - Eliza and Christopher thanks for opening up your beautiful home, for that yummy pizzia dinner, for the fun girlie lunch at the mall, the yummy meal you prepared for us and the Southern Sunday church service...really had a great time!! Love you all bunches!!
Aiden has started his basketball season this year along with his brothers...we are having a ball with these boys!!
Thanks mom and dad for caring for my boys so Trav and I could go and enjoy ourselves in Atlanta - love ya forever!!
So excited for this Christmas season - we get to see Nana and Papa in Salt Lake the day after Christmas. We just found out this week that Sissy(Trav's sister) is going to have a boy... that was exciting news for the whole family - We are grateful for each one of our family members on the Doyle and Dougherty side. Each member makes the puzzle complete - we are grateful for the power of family and togetherness...experiences that draw us closer and make us stronger. We feel your love and hope you can feel ours....

November to December...

My Grandma Jacobs passed away the day after Thanksgiving. What an amazing women - she has left behind a wonderful legacy - She was one of 14 children - had 10 children of her own - 48 grandchildren and 104 great-grandchildren. She was the BEST example - was a wonderful cook and homemaker - holidays were always the Best at grandma Jacobs. I don't ever remember grandma raising her voice - always took advantage of the teaching moment...told the BESt stories of days gone by - Reminded us to be kind - supported all the grandchildren in whatever they were interested in...remember Grandma and Grandpa several years ago traveling to 3 different states over a 3 week period to watch 3 state playoff games from 3 differnt granchildren - the memories will live on in our hearts...the homemade ice-cream from the snow, butterscotch pies, sledding down the hill at the FARM in Vale...because of her I have a wonderful mother, aunts, uncles and several cousins....My life is blessed because of the life of my grandmother - want to be just like her:)

Happy Birthday Travis Jr. ...The big "14" - My boy!! My life has been so blessed by having Travis Jr. as my first born son. He had a great football season and went right into basketball season. He is a bruiser - love to watch him. He has made 20 and 30 points the last few games - he is a pretty reserved kid for the most part but pretty entertaining to watch once he steps on the court - he is humble. He never talks about what he did - he lets others do the talking for him - I love that about him. Our home is always booming with extra boys/friends ....he is a good friend. He loves movie parties and hanging out with family and friends - he likes to attend all the HS activities and enjoys the freedom of this small community - he loves school and will be ordained a Teacher in a few weeks at church. He is kind and loving - enjoys his dads cooking - loves school...gets up at 6:00 every morning to attend speed training/weight lifting - he works hard and takes his goals serious. He is not only an example to Michael, Tanner and Aiden but also to us as his parents. We know whatever Travis decides to do in all his walks of life he is going to move mountains....love ya, bud!!
My parents came to Enterprise to stay with my boys while Trav and I went to Atlanta - We left for Atlanta on his Birthday but had a little family party the day before we left....
Caleb(Kel's son), Samson(Matt's son), Tanner and Aiden road with me to the funeral - they are good buds and we had a great time together!!

So thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed their time and life in order for us to enjoy this beautiful country where we have freedom - the freedom to choose. Michael and Trav played in their championship football game Veteran's day in the evening - what a cool experience!! United States of America...the land of the FREE!! Great work, Tanner!!!

Michael and Trav's Football season 2010

It has been such a fun football season this year. The boys played hard and had some great experiences. It's fun to see life molding and preparing them for bigger and better things. The season ended a week or so ago - here is a little video we put together for the boys.

Our Mississippi Boy - Happy 6th Aiden

Halloween October 31, 2004 became one of the greatest days of our lives. We have been celebrating Aiden's Brithday for the past few days. Here are a few things we did: Friday, Aiden and Tanner had their Halloween parties at school. Aiden got to wear his costume to school. He was way excited about that. After school the H.S. football game had a state playoff game here in Enterprise - Hometown football is always the best - Kadin(my niece) danced with the drill team to "Thriller". After the game we hit the Elementry Halloween Carnival. Aiden and Tanner loved getting their faces painted. Aiden's favorite game was the ring toss - Saturday, we were up and at it early - Michael had a playoff game in Cedar City - His team played awesome..I think their BEST game so far. After the game we went out to eat for Aiden's Birthday - then hit up Walmart. Nana and Papa Dougherty sent him a gift card..it's always fun for them to pick out a toy themselves....thanks Nana and Papa - he was happy to get your Birthday call as well. After Walmart we headed back to Enterprise for trick- or- treating and went to Aiden's Birthday party at the Koopmans - Trav and I ended up taking Kinley and Aiden around trick-or-treating. Those kids were so cute. It was like each house was the first. Here in Utah they celebrate Halloween on Saturday if it falls on a Sunday:)...love that! Sunday Aiden was excited to get sung to at church. The primary here gave him a Birthday Can with goodies- My good hubby made Aiden's choice of dinner - Steak, shrimp and Trav's famous garlic mashed potatoes for the his Birthday dinner. Thanks to everyone for all the fun Birthday cards, gifts and phone calls. We love Aiden so much -he brings so much laughter and love to our family of boys.... Aiden helped me make pumkin cupcakes for his party - here he is at his party Saturday night.
Tanner and his buddies went trick-or-treating by themselves - here are some of the other cousins and friends at his party. Uncle Brandon made a really cool drink with dry ice:)
Here are Aiden and Tanner at their class parties...
Michael wore some crazy hair to the HS Football game Friday night..that child beats to his own drum. The kids had gone out on the sidelines to watch the drill team dance to "Thriller". Here are some pics at the carnival as well. Trav and Michael both went to different parties of their own Saturday night - yikes... I almost have 2 teenagers. They are such fun boys.

Secretariat

When my parents were here they treated us to the movie Secretariat. They had already seen it once but wanted my sister and our families to see it. It is a great movie. Inspiring.....
Love my parents to pieces - thanks for all those inspiring lessons of life:)

Together is the BEST place to BE...

Took the boys bowling Monday. Bowling is such a great game....boys took it pretty serious. Had some good laughs with eachother.

The boys!!!.........................................................................................
My parents came to Utah again this month. We all got together for Tyler's missionary farewell. We are thankful to the 2 oldest Doyle grandsons who are paving the way and serving full time missions.
Getting ready for the big football games tomorrow...

October updates...

Only a few more weeks before playoffs - This is Trav Jr. throwing the ball in the picture below. His team is undefeated. If they win their next game they head to the Championships:)

Aiden loves to watch his brothers play - you will often find him down on the sidelines standing by a brother or his dad watching the games - always wants to be part of the excitment.
Michael's team has won 2 lost 2 and they tied yesterday - If they win their game in 2 weeks they also will go to the championships. Michael is the player with the ball:)
It has been 2 years since Michael's eye accident - he also seperated his shoulder this past Summer. So thankful for the power of prayer - power of the priesthood that heals and gives us comfort and peace.
The picture of Tanner in the far right is of Tanner after he doctored up our dog "Doc". Doc cut himself pretty bad. I love how Tanner has so much compassion...such a tender heart. He stayed by Doc until odd hours of the night - Doc is lucky to have him:)

My parents came for the weekend - they have 13 grandchilden in Southern Utah so, basically came down to watch lots of football. My sister and I drove down to see them in Vegas the night they arrived...just in time to watch Damon's(my nephew)football team win in OT - had a great time...even better to hit such a great game. Damon is a awesome player.

Friday: we all gathered at Kel's house for dinner and games

Saturday: we all woke up early and drove one hour East to Panaca to watch Travis, Zach and Michael play on the 8th grade team. Trav has been throwing the ball like a true CHAMPION- he is so fun to watch!! Zach is our center - him and Trav have a good connection, and Michael is a workhorse - he has ran for 5 touchdowns the last 2 games and is the 7th grade kicker - fun he got to play up with the big boys:) Does it really get better then this?? After Michael's game my parents drove 2 hours down to St. George to watch Samson(another nephew) play in his football game - 4 games in 2 days!! Saturday night my brother Matt's family, Kel's family, my parents, and the boy's football coach and his family all gathered for a yummy BBQ and some more football - Trav cooked us up some of his yummy food....

VIRTUE=STRENGTH

I love nothing more then to see my boys compete in a football game, organize a game in the back yard, get excited about the watermellon growing out in the garden, or working hard on a assignment and having that hard work pay off, but nothing warms my heart more then to open a closed door and see them kneeling in prayer - to hear them share their testimonies of the restored gospel and pass the sacrament. I'm so thankful for each one of our sons and the strength they bring our family. I love this video...virtue does equal strength and does bring a confidence within....

Homecoming....

Well, Homecoming was another big hit this year - this town has tons of tradtions! The funnest part of the week was watching Kadin all grown-up on the homecoming court during halftime at the football game. She is BEAUTIFUL - and watching the parade(Trav and Michael got to ride on the 7th & 8th grade football float), HS football game, powder puff game and all the dressing up was a BLAST!!

Loves little babies and children - has so much patience with them. He is in the 5th grade this year and just did his first autobiography this week about himself. He loves his teacher and school - really enjoys reading and is a great student - says he wants to be a Veterinarian someday - Has a sharp mind like his Father:)

...Back to the BOOKS!!!

Michael(7th grade),Travis(8th grade) are both up in the high school this year. They are such fun boys - growing up way too fast for me. They started school a few weeks ago and are getting excited for their first football games this coming weekend - I love that they have each other - they are good buds!!
My baby started kindergarten this year. Only goes from 12:10-2:30 - The first day he rode his bike to school and I walked behind him... just couldn't stop thinking about where times goes - he is such a little man - loves life..and is so excited about school and learning. Enjoys drawing and is going to be the "Star of the week" starting tomorrow. He is pretty pumped on taking his poster to school - this year we did a small little garden and we will often find Aiden showing the neighborhood kids the veggies and how "huge" they are getting. He brings so much Light into our home....
Kadin my niece is a big senior this year - it's fun for the kids to have the cousins at school with them. We enjoy watching her dance and perform during all the half time events. Michael and her are good buds too:)
Zach and Trav are just a few months apart - these boys are amazing. Trav is playing QB this year and Zach is the center -they have a AWESOME team. BEST of Friends!!!

Jacobs Reunion 2010

So, we packed up the van July 19th and headed to Wallowa Lake in Central Oregon. Every 2 years my mom's family gets together and camps for a week. Like I have said my mom is 1 of 10 children. This was the first reunion we have had since my grandfather passed away almost 2 years ago. We missed him dearly - just wasn't the same without him, but my 86 year old grandmother pulled through and came up to camp for 4 days. We counted around 150 family memebrs in attendence. Always fun to spend time with my BEST cousins - we are all super close. I have some wonderful Aunts and Uncles - we always pick up where we left off ... share stories and sing around the campfire of days gone by.

Zach and Caleb rode with us to the reunion - nothing like a van full of 6 boys!!!!The last night we hit the big St Joseph Rodeo about 10 miles out of camp. Growing up we always attended the 24th of July Rodeo in Vale, Oregon - my grandpa loved the Rodeos...
The boys had fun rafting with Grandpa Mark, fishing with the cousins, playing basketball, go-carts, and the rope swing down at the river....can't forget the traditional races...aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews run and give it thier all.....love that good JACOBS BLOOD!!
In the picture above I am holding my youngest cousin-not nephew, but COUSIN. My Uncle rick who is 2 years older then I just had granchild #58. Always fun to sing around the campfire - and the Jacobs tradtional talent show is always a big hit.
Before the big trek Trav took us up to the Dixie National Forest camp grounds - the boys are all CRAZY like their Dad and enjoyed jumping from the rocks....esp. Aiden!!

OUR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OUR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parents need to "play offense" - to capitalize on the impressionable years of childhood by instilling in their sons the antecedents of character. Their assignment during two brief decades will be to trasform their boys from immature and flighty youngsters into honest, caring men who will be respectful of women, loyal and faithful in marriage, keepers of commitments, strong and decisive leaders, good workers, and secure. And of course, the ultimate goal for people of faithis to give each child understanding of scripture and a lifelong passion of Jesus Christ. This is, I believe. the most important responsibility for those of us who have been entrusted with the careand Nurturance of children.

Christmas In Elma!!

We left for WA the 13th of December - I barely made it to Seattle to hand the kids over to my Dad and catch a flight to Atlanta where I would join Trav for his company Christmas Party the next day. Trav and I had a fun get away and were able to do a little Christmas shopping. We stayed Thursday, Friday and Saturday and flew back to Seattle Sunday morning where we stayed until January 3rd - We were able to catch a Elma Boys Basketball game. The boys thought it was really cool looking at all the family(uncles & aunts) names on the walls before you entered the Gym doors. Michael and I went and Chatted with Coach Nadau one afternoon. It was so fun spending time with family and friends
